Russell Brand Comes to Kanye's Defense
If anyone can sympathize with Kanye West's predicament, it's foul-mouthed comedian Russell Brand, who hosted the MTV Video Music Awards during which West infamously slighted Taylor Swift.
"Because in the past I've made mistakes and done things a little bit daft," Brand tells Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show Monday morning. "I know Kanye, and I know he's a nice bloke. We all make mistakes in life."
Brand, 34, says people should stop laying into West, who has apologized, and cut him a little slack for getting "a little bit excited."
"We're all people, these things are a bit silly, no one died," Brand says.
Still, Brand admits that he wanted to gently confront West backstage after the incident.
"Taylor Swift's a young kid, isn't she?" he says. "Yeah, you can't make a pretty girl cry."

Lil Mama, VMAs Second Stage Crasher
Kanye West is getting all of the headlines thanks to his Video Music Awards stage bum-rush, but he wasn't the only unexpected celebrity cameo.
Towards the end of Jay-Z's performance of 'Empire State of Mind' with Alicia Keys, rapper and 'America's Best Dance Crew' judge Lil Mama hopped up on stage and for a few seconds was standing on the side dancing. Jay-Z at one point patted her on the leg as a hint to go back to her seat, but Mama didn't get the message.
At the end of the song, she crashed a major photo opportunity as Jay-Z and Keys came together for a closing-out pose.
New 'New Moon' Trailer: Creepy Dakota And Shirtless Robert Pattinson
There's a new trailer out to keep fans freaking out in advance of the November release "New Moon," the highly anticipated follow-up to 'Twilight."
In the most-recent trailer fans get a glimpse of a grown-up Dakota Fanning in her role as Jane, a member of the deadly Volturi, complete with crimson eyes.
Meanwhile, vampire heartthrob Edward (played by British heartthrob Robert Pattinson) takes his shirt off.
Jacob (Taylor Lautner) also goes shirtless in the trailer, but that newly-buff body was seen in previously released clips.
And Bella (Kristen Stewart) sinks into a depression, only to become the center of a love triangle.
