Wrongfully Convicted Man Wins Freedom

A prison system official says a New York City man is free after spending nearly two decades behind bars for murder before a judge declared him innocent.

Fernando Bermudez was released from the Sing Sing prison in Ossining at about 2:10 p.m. Friday. A Manhattan judge overturned Bermudez's 1992 conviction last week, saying it stemmed from unreliable witness testimony.

But Bermudez remained behind bars because he hadn't served a 27-month sentence in a federal drug case.

A federal judge on Thursday ordered that Bermudez be released at least until June 30 while his lawyers ask federal officials to credit his drug sentence as served.

Inside Janet Jackson's AMA "Make Me" Run-Through

Janet Jackson may be about to answer the musical question, "What Have You Done for Me Lately?" A source who caught Jackson rehearsing Friday for her upcoming American Music Awards performance says the "Nasty" singer appears poised for a major comeback.

"Even though Janet was marking most of the dance moves today, the choreography is obviously very complicated, and she knew it all by heart," says the eyewitness. "She looked really strong and at ease onstage."

The singer is expected to perform her new song, "Make Me," to kick off Sunday's AMAs. We're guessing some of her routine may be cribbed from her new video for the song (see above), which features a vintage Janet vibe, including space-age shoulder pads and countless hat-tips to brother Michael.

Our rehearsal source says Janet, clad in Uggs and a green track jacket, wore no make up for the run-through but still looked sexy.

"There are some pretty risqué moves in the performance, including one where she grabs the crotch of a male dancer and pushes him forward," says the insider. "And it was amazing she could dance so well wearing those boots!"

Jackson, who performed a tribute to her brother at the MTV Music Awards in September, will share the stage with stars like Carrie Underwood and Lady Gaga at Sunday's show at Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. But despite the competition, it sounds like Janet, as always, will be in "Control."

Rob, Kristen and Taylor's Best Talk Show Moments

Happy New Moon weekend, everyone! We gotta hand it to Rob, Kristen and Taylor, they all worked so hard over the past month to promote their little vampire movie, which culminated last night in a three-way (pre-taped) interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Now they can all go back to their normal lives. For Taylor that means pumping iron and practicing back flips all day, while Rob and Kristen lurk around the shadows of Chateau Marmont.

But before we say goodbye to the gang until they resurface for Eclipse this summer, we thought we'd put together our favorite moments from the past week's talk show appearances. (And there were a lot of them—Ellen, Conan, Leno, Letterman, Jimmy Fallon, Today, Regis and Kelly.)

Usually they’re met with the same questions: Did you ever expect this to be so big? How is this movie different from the last? OMG, fans are so crazy, right? They scream so much! How did you bulk up to play Jacob Black? Are you dating Kristen? What do you think of your Barbie? Will you throw this football? (Both Taylor and Kristen had to do that, btw.)

Still, there were some fun moments to be had and we've compiled them all right here just in case you fell asleep while Taylor talked about his workout regime for the 13th time.

Let's see what we got: http://www.eonline.com/videos/v47744_twilight-stars-show-battle-wounds.html

New Moon Eclipses Dark Knight!

As a PG-rated Robin might cry, "Holy crap, Batman!"

New Moon smashed The Dark Knight's single-day and opening-day box-office records with an estimated $72.7 million Friday, its studio reported today.

If the movie's unprecedented midnight business was "absolutely freakish," then its unprecedented full-day take was simply phenomenal.

"It doubled the opening day of the first movie—and Twilight was no slouch itself," Box Office Mojo's Brandon Gray said. "It's just sensational."

With New Moon having already eclipsed its $50 million budget, two of Dark Knight's showiest records, and Twilight's entire opening-weekend gross, about the only question left is: How big can this thing get?

Jon (Plus Flowers) & Kate Reunite to Put Finishing Touches on Divorce

Jon Gosselin came bearing gifts. He left one giant step closer to losing a wife.

The artists otherwise known as Jon & Kate met face to face at a Pennsylvania law office on Saturday for a daylong arbitration meeting to essentially put a stake in their marriage.

Sources close to TLC's former fun couple say that the Gosselins closed in on finalizing custody arrangements for the eight and the division of assets. Jon even showed up with a bouquet of roses at the start of the meeting as a symbol of his newfound commitment to make things right.

But while Kate seemed amenable to the terms of their divorce, she left sans flowers.

The final episode of Jon & Kate Plus 8 (at least as we know it) airs Monday. Their marriage could be over before the new year.

Courteney Cox's "Family Matter" Shuts Down Cougar Town

Cougar Town fans are waiting with bated breath to find out if Jules Cobb can lock down a younger man. But some real-life drama involving star Courteney Cox is going to keep that cliffhanger hanging a little longer.

"We can confirm production on Cougar Town has been temporarily shut down in order for Courteney to deal with a private family matter," ABC said in a statement Saturday.

A network rep declined to elaborate, and there was no immediate word on the nature of the problem from Cox's personal publicist.
