Wyclef To Run for President of Haiti?

Just what Haiti needs a musician with little to no political experience as President. But heck, it's happened in the US why should Haiti be any different.

Musician Wyclef Jean is set to announce his candidacy for president of Haiti this Thursday on CNN's 'Larry King Live,' a source close to the singer told CNN Tuesday. And the former head of Haiti's Chamber of Deputies confirmed the move, telling the Associated Press that Jean will soon announce his run for president.

Jean's rep wouldn't confirm the reports but did acknowledge the singer will be making an announcement Thursday. She wouldn't comment on what Jean will discuss at that time.

It's been speculated for months that the hip hop artist would run for president--Jean even released a song titled 'If I Was President.' And though the singer's never confirmed the rumors, he's never denied them either.

Jean, 37, was born in Haiti but left soon after and was raised in Brooklyn, New York. The singer is a popular figure in Haiti nonetheless; his music and charity work after the devastating January 12 earthquake has made him a favorite among many locals.

To run for president, Jean must prove he's resided in Haiti for five consecutive years, that he owns property in the country and that he has no other citizenship but Haitian.

All candidates must register with the country's electoral council by this Saturday and so far, Jean hasn't filed his bid yet.

It's over AGAIN for Bristol & Levi

Bristol Palin, less than a day after her sudden breakup with recent on-again fiance Levi Johnston, has offered new words on the dissolution: "Perhaps I was naive but I really thought Levi was ready,"

"I see that Levi's people equate me with a bridezilla. This is not about me," she added. "This was about doing what was best for Tripp and making us a family.

Levi is "doing well and is upbeat" since the split went public, a source tells Radar. "They are both giving it space."

Sarah Palin's daughter, 19, told PEOPLE yesterday, "It's over. I broke up with him."

PEOPLE reported Bristol as being emotional in a telephone interview, speaking "through tears about feeling heartbroken, humiliated and trapped – while Johnston acted cool." She also said she's only seen Levi once in the last three weeks.

Palin told PEOPLE the relationship started heading south the very day the Us Weekly cover story hit shelves -- Johnston, who has a 19-month-old son with Bristol, broke news to her that very evening that he may have fathered a child with a young girl. The former girlfriend denied this, but Bristol was finished.

"There's been no remorse," Palin said. "The final straw was him flying to Hollywood for what he told me was to see some hunting show but come to find out it was that music video mocking my family. He's just obsessed with the limelight and I got played."

In a late July vote wondering if the couple would last, 56 percent of PopEater readers voted "not a chance."

'The Situation' to appear on new season of Bones?

Bones is jumping on the Jersey Shore bandwagon in a big way. Series creator Hart Hanson confirms to me exclusively that he has approached Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino to guest star in an upcoming episode inspired by the MTV phenom.

“We’re trying to get The Situation to play a murder victim,” Hanson reveals. “A guido is killed and Booth and Brennan enter that world to find out what happens. We’re not sure if it’ll happen or not. Talks are ongoing.”

According to the latest casting intel, The Sitch would play fitness guru Ritchie “The V” Genero in the October episode. The search is on for an actress to costar as Ritchie’s Victoria Gotti-esque mom.

At Fox’s press tour party last night, Bones’ main man David Boreanaz revealed that Brennan will “understand them because she considers [guidos] a tribe.” Added leading lady Emily Deschanel: “Brennan anthropologically studies them and knows the lingo and the behavior. [She's] down with the whole guido stuff.”

Deschanel predicts that the episode will be packed with Jersey Shore references. Laughs the actress: “I guarantee that there will be a fist pump.”

Getting arrested on the boardwalk in Seaside Heights, NJ, last week wasn't all fun and games for Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi — as you can see from her mug shot!

In the photo — an instant classic as far as celeb mug shots go — the pint-sized pistol has mascara smudged all over her face and looks like she's been crying.

The Jersey Shore cast member was picked up for disorderly conduct on Friday and spent several hours in custody before being released with a summons.

Her BFF and costar Jenni "JWoww" Farley was there waiting when she was released.

"Going to bail @Sn00ki out of jail … The things I do for this girl I swear," JWoww teeted on Friday.

Despite her apparent unhappiness in this photo, she was back on the boardwalk Sunday, going on amusement park rides and visiting a sex shop.

Illegal Immigration Foes Focus on 14th Amendment 'Citizenship Clause'

A fourth senior Republican senator has called for a review of the 14th Amendment's Citizenship Clause as it pertains to children born to illegal immigrants in the United States.

Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) on Tuesday said he supports Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who announced last week that he is considering introducing an amendment that would deny citizenship to children of illegal immigrants.

"We should change our Constitution and say that if you come here illegally and have a child, that child is automatically not a citizen," Graham said on Greta Van Susteren's show on Fox. "People come here to have babies. It's called drop and leave. To have a child in America, they cross the border, they go to the emergency room, they have a child and that child is automatically an American citizen. That shouldn't be the case."

Coburn echoed those sentiments Tuesday, saying that the 14th Amendment was adopted in 1868 to prevent the disenfranchisement of recently freed slaves, and it was not meant to guarantee citizenship to unlawful immigrants.

"There was never an intent by our founders that just because you were here and you had a child born here and you were here not as a resident that your child would become a citizen," Coburn said. "I think we need to look at it."

He added that the author of the Citizenship Clause, Sen. Jacob Howard of Michigan, said that the clause was not meant for illegal immigrants and "will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens . . . "

Sen. John Kyl (R-Ariz.) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) have also called for hearings to look into the clause.

"The 14th Amendment [has been] interpreted to provide that if you are born in the United States, you are a citizen no matter what," Kyl said on CBS's "Face the Nation."

"So the question is, if both parents are here illegally, should there be a reward for their illegal behavior?"

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, in his daily briefing Tuesday, accused McConnell of political posturing. Recently, McConnell made the same accusation of political posturing against President Barack Obama for challenging the Arizona immigration law.

"I don't know if that was based on 2010 or 2012 [elections]," Gibbs said. "But my hunch is it is based purely on politics."

Lizette J. Olmos, communications director for the League of United Latin American Citizens, said immigration reform is needed, but not at the expense of the 14th Amendment.

"We definitely don't agree [with the GOP senators]," Olmos said. "Calling for reform is not solving the problem. We don't support breaking the law, but we need to address the situation of millions of people."

Coburn acknowledged that while hearings to look into the issue are necessary, actually amending the Constitution is a whole another matter.

"The founders made it very difficult to change the Constitution, and I think if we solve some of these other problems that's not a big issue," Coburn said. "If in fact you have your borders controlled, then it's not an issue. So it all goes back to the federal government's responsibility to control the borders."

Illegal Immigrant Driving Drunk Kills Nun

Now of course this is just one case in which a drunk driver so happens to be an illegal alien but it does however exploit a serious problem that we have here in the US and it's that of illegal immigrants in the country. I always say illegal means just that ILLEGAL. If a person has overstayed their work visa or has come through the borders in the dead of night they know that what they have done is wrong and I chance to say that if someone did it in their country, they would be put in jail or worse shot dead.

An illegal immigrant awaiting a deportation ruling has been charged with killing a nun and critically injuring two others in a drunken driving crash that has sparked criticism of how immigration enforcement is handled. A local official in the Virginia suburb where the crash happened and a congressman from another state have criticized federal officials for not removing the suspect from the country after previous arrests, and even U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano questioned why his deportation was taking so long. A spokeswoman for the nuns' order, meanwhile, said they're upset that the tragedy is being politicized. Twenty-three-year-old Carlos Martinelly Montano, who police say is illegally in the country, is charged with drunken driving, involuntary manslaughter and felony driving on a revoked license after the accident on Sunday in Virginia's Prince William County. Montano was arrested two times before and charged with drunken driving, according to county police, and has also been arrested in separate incidents for other traffic-related offenses. Police say Montano, who is from Bolivia, was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement after at least one arrest, and a prosecutor said he knew of at least one other occasion he'd been referred to immigration officials.
