Desperate Housewives - The Thrill of The Chase & Seduction
'The Chase' offered us tidbits about Penny, Karen McCluskey, Andrew, Celia and, two of my favorite recurring characters, Bob and Lee. While introducing a new cryptic character named Sam ... For sure, he has a secret agenda that will rock Wisteria Lane.
Bob, Lee and Celia
Celia didn't get much screen time this week, but the fact that she had chicken pox set the stage for some very interesting scenes with Bob, Lee and Gaby. I'm ecstatic that Gaby ended up at Bob and Lee's, as it gave them much-needed screen time. However, why did Gaby end up at Bob and Lee's instead of at one of her female friends like Susan, who does have a spare room?
Gaby thought the grass was greener on her neighbors' lawn until she discovered that Bob and Lee had been envying her life. The couple is trying to adopt and were almost successful but, sadly for them, the mother changed her mind and decided to keep her baby girl. Awww ... I hope the guys get to adopt in the near future. They seem to be truly ready for it and I'm sure they would be good parents, don't you agree? It would also give them opportunities to interact with the housewives in order to get parenting tips.
Penny
However, Bob and Lee may want to wait until Tom and Lynette get things back in order before asking the Scavos for parenting tips, eh? The Scavos forgot about Penny's eleventh birthday!!! I'm surprised that none of the other Wisteria Lane residents / parents asked the Scavos if they planned a party or something, as some of them would surely attend, such as Celia and Juanita. In any case, this mishap allowed us to see more of Penny, who's been a forgotten character this season.
What first name would you prefer for the unborn baby? Patricia or Polly? Or maybe you have another "P" suggestion? Share your thoughts in comments below.
Karen
Mrs. McCluskey has gotten more screen time this season, mostly thanks to the introduction of Roy. You have to admit that the addition of Roy has brought good laughs and chuckles. Just this week, he compared women to salt and kissed Susan! But Roy is not only a bitter old man, he is also very kind.
How sad is it that Karen may have cancer? Roy is right. Cancer picked the wrong woman to have a fight with. McCluskey is strong and doesn't let anything stand in her way. Let's hope she either doesn't have cancer or, if she does, wins her battle against it, because we need her on Wisteria Lane to snoop around and call it as she sees it.
Andrew
I'm not happy with where the writers took Andrew's storyline. It was refreshing to see how Andrew was able to get his life back on track these past two seasons, and now they have him cheat on Alex! Things may even take a turn for the worse because it looks like Andrew may lose his job. Sadly, I believe Andrew will take it really hard if he gets fired and may go back to some of his old habits until he finds the strength to get back on his feet.
Sam Allen seems to be quite the cryptic character. He sure has studied Bree a lot, and he seems to be driven by some mysterious mission. The fact that he took the "World's Greatest Son" mug to drink seems to hint that he may be related to Bree. Could she have been pregnant when she was really young and ended up giving the baby -- aka Sam -- up for adoption? Or maybe he is a wacko who has "studied" Bree so much that he now believes he is her son? Who do you think Sam really is?
Other tidbits
- Katherine and Robin's relationship has evolved too fast for my taste. It now feels as awkward as Katherine's look in the last scene when she woke up next to Robin. They should have taken things a bit slower, given Katherine time to really see if she was ready for such a relationship, and given Katherine time to know Robin. I do still believe this pairing could end up in an interesting storyline, but the writers need to take a step back and not rush things and wreck the character of Katherine even more. You must admit that Katherine is not the same evil yet lovable character she was when introduced to the show.
- What was it with those soap opera scenes that everyone watched?!? It seems that their only purpose was to set up the stage for a Sprint advertisement!
- Angie and Nick discovered that Danny lied and that he went to NYC to find Ana. Angie is afraid that Danny will venture into their old neighborhood and that Patrick will find him. She also mentions that Patrick found them the last time. I sense that Patrick will stop by Wisteria Lane in time for May Sweeps, you?
