Britney Spears's Latest Single "3" - Discussed

Figure Out What Those Lyrics Mean?

Just two days after her “Circus” tour wrapped in the US, Britney Spears dropped her new single “3” (and cover art featured below) — listen to it on Z100.com — reminding us how we just can’t live without her. The song is the only new track off her new compilation album, The Singles Collection, which hits stores November 24.

Unlike the title track off Circus, which discusses how she feels trapped in the middle of a circus and “Piece of Me” from 2007’s Blackout, about the media’s scrutiny into her personal life, “3” is a return to themes of her light-hearted song like “If U Seek Amy.” Quick quiz: what adult sexual activity involves three people? Ding ding ding! You’re a winner.

But while the song’s catchy tune will have you singing “1, 2, 3/Peter, Paul and Mary” (full lyrics after the jump) for days on end, we’re going to dig a little deeper into the “three” element behind the single. First off, The Singles Collection is Britney’s third compilation album, following 2004’s Greatest Hits: My Prerogative and 2005’s B in the Mix: The Remixes.

And, when looking at the past decade of Britney, it can be said this is the third stage of her fame. First, she was the teenager telling us she’s “not that innocent.” Then she went through a period of social dissolution which was closely documented and followed by the media. Now, finally on her redemptive comeback, Britney is ready to take the stage as pop queen in the third phase of her career. With her “Circus” tour looking to be the most successful of the year, it looks like we can already call her that.

Or we can just say the song is about threesomes.

Decide for yourself! Check out the lyrics below, listen to the song and share your thoughts with us on the new Britney below!

Britney Spear “3” lyrics;

1, 2, 3
Not only you and me
Got one eighty degrees
And I’m caught in between
Countin’
1, 2, 3
Peter, Paul & Mary
Gettin’ down with 3P
Everybody loves ***
Countin’
Babe, pick a night
To come out and play
If it’s alright
What do you say?
Merrier the more
Triple fun that way
Twister on the floor
What do you say?
Are – you in
Livin’ in sin is the new thing (yeah)
Are – you in
I am countin’!
1, 2, 3
Not only you and me
Got one eighty degrees
And I’m caught in between
Countin’
1, 2, 3
Peter, Paul & Mary
Gettin’ down with 3P
Everybody loves ***
Countin’
Three is a charm
Two is not the same
I don’t see the harm
So are you game?
Lets’ make a team
Make ‘em say my name
Lovin’ the extreme
Now are you game?
Are – you in
Livin’ in sin is the new thing
Are – you in
I am countin’!
1, 2, 3
Not only you and me
Got one eighty degrees
And I’m caught in between
Countin’
1, 2, 3
Peter, Paul & Mary
Gettin’ down with 3P
Everybody loves ***
What we do is innocent
Just for fun and nothin’ meant
If you don’t like the company
Let’s just do it you and me
You and me…
Or three….
Or four….
On the floor

Gosselin Apologizes, Tries to Halt Divorce

It's a busy day in Gosselin-ville. Jon Gosselin is trying to slow down -- if not halt altogether -- his divorce from Kate Gosselin, telling In Touch Weekly exclusively: "I regret my conduct since Kate and I separated ... I used poor judgment in publicly socializing with other women so soon." He's filed paperwork looking to stall the divorce for 90 days "to regain control over the future of our family." In other news, TLC has announced that 'Jon & Kate Plus Eight' will now be titled 'Kate Plus Eight,' and Jon's role will be minimized.

So what do you think about this? Do you think that Jon has had a change of heart or is it more related to the possibility that his cash cow could be endangered?

Pre-Sale Surge for Adam Lambert's Debut CD

Season 8 American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert's upcoming album - not due for release until Nov. 24, has already zoomed to the No. 2 spot on the Amazon.com sales list Monday, behind only Barbra Streisand's much-publicized new jazz album, reports the New York Post.

The distinction ranked Lambert, 27, ahead of Madonna, the Beatles and Susan Boyle on the online retailer's sales list – and shows that one needn't nab the top title on Idol to win the sales race, as also evidenced by such chart-topping second-place winners as Jennifer Hudson, Clay Aiken and Chris Daughtry.

Lambert's sales figures are all the more impressive because his label, RCA, made no announcement that the disc could be pre-ordered, so the reaction was basely solely on word of mouth, notes the Post.

Collaborating with him on the album are Lady Gaga's producer RedOne, One Republic's Ryan Tedder and Grammy-nominated music producer and songwriter Max Martin.

In a much-quoted Rolling Stone interview, Lambert admitted of eventual Idol winner (and Lambert's roommate during the competition) Kris Allen, "He's the one guy that I found attractive in the whole group on the show ... totally my type – except that he has a wife." This prompted Allen to tell PEOPLE, "I'm flattered. And think it's hilarious."

I'm one who thought that Adam should have won Season 8's American Idol so lets just all wait and see what happens when America really speaks all the way to the top of the charts!!!

Sarah Palin Book to Hit Stores Nov. 17

Call her what you like, but she's definitely a fast writer.

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has already finished her memoir, titled Going Rogue: An American Life, and has a newly moved-up launch date for its publication – Nov. 17 for a whopping 1.5 million copies, the Christian Science Monitor reports.

The 400-page memoir from HarperCollins, which Palin wrote with noted ghostwriter Lynn Vincent, was completed in a swift four months, at last part of which Palin spent in an intense retreat in San Diego, Calif.

The title of Palin's book is also notable, as it's the term that advisors to Sen. John McCain used to mock the former vice presidential nominee during the 2008 presidential elections, describing some of the many complaints the McCain camp allegedly had for the candidate's running mate.

Despite her speedy wrap-up of her book, Palin, 45, has a lot to cover in her tale, from her beauty-pageant beginnings, to her selection by McCain, to revelations of her daughter Bristol's pregnancy, to her falling-out with Bristol's baby's father, Levi Johnston – who has accused the ex-governor of being far from the simple American wife and mom she claims to be. Neither Palin nor Vincent has commented on the contents of the text.

Palin is considered a favorite of many social conservatives for the 2012 presidential election, though she will not confirm her future plans.
