Calvin Klein's Racy Billboard - Will It Be Banned?

If three's a crowd, we don't even want to know what four is!

Some denim ads promise sex appeal, some popularity, others... threesomes?  That's what many people think this latest racy Calvin Klein Jeans billboard is inferring. The Soho-situated ad, from the company's Spring/Summer 2009 campaign, is creating quite a stir on the corner of Lafayette and Houston streets in NYC.  Considering that the company's even-more sexually charged television commercial, which was shot by famed photographer Steven Meisel,  was banned in the United States, it's no wonder that photos -- several stories tall -- of the same nature might have New Yorkers and tourists alike up in arms, with some even calling the image "borderline pornographic."

You can, however, watch the 30-second spot on the calvinkleinjeans.com. And while the U.S. censors think the commercial is too hot to handle, Italy, France, Spain and Germany will air the ad. Eva Mendes recently appeared on a provocative Calvin Klein fragrance billboard in Times Square, and her commercial was also banned from U.S. programming. When asked for comment, a Calvin Klein spokesperson stated that the "intention was to create a very sexy campaign that speaks to our targeted demographic." So, the big question: If the video's been banned, is the billboard next?

  1. We overly moral and tight-assed American's really need to get over ourselves already. As if we're so morally pure. Something like this offends our senses and yet we are a county that has not only moved the original inhabitants off their land (yeah and killed them too), purchased slaves, held back rights from those slaves, gave them freedoms while still holding them back in the workforce and educational systems, AND still deny equal rights to people of the same sex who as consenting adults have chosen to live with one another. AMERICA grow up!
