Tony Danza Heads to Philadelphia to Teach

Who’s the Boss? meets Head of the Class? Maybe.

Actor Tony Danza is heading to Philadelphia to shoot A&E’s new reality show Teach at Northeast High School, PEOPLE confirms.
The city’s School Reform Commission voted 3-1 Wednesday to approve the filming of 13 episodes of the show, which will document Danza as he co-teaches 10th grade English with a certified teacher, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. Danza will also help out with the prom and school plays.

Danza originally shot the pilot of the show in Yonkers, N.Y., but the city’s school board vetoed future episodes, so production moved to Philadelphia.

“[I am] humbled, honored and so grateful that the City of Philadelphia has decided to let us try this,” Danza said in a statement. “I have always wanted to teach, so this is a gift for me. I will work hard to make sure I don’t let anyone down, especially the kids.”

Philadelphia schools Superintendent Arlene Ackerman also released a statement, saying, “This important project will help illuminate the joy, rewards and challenges of one of the most gratifying professions available, a first-year teacher in the city of Philadelphia.”
