Fans, Past Idols Launch "Keep Paula" Campaign on Twitter

Shortly after Paula Abdul's manager announced that "it does not appear" the dancer-singer will return to American Idol next season, fans took to Twitter to show their support for the embattled judge.

Using the hashtag "#keeppaula," they have been Tweeting like crazy.

Matt GiraudAnoop Desai and Danny Gokey -- who are now on the Idol live tour - also each took time out to join the "Keep Paula" campaign.

Season 7's Syesha Mercado Tweeted, "No Paula = No American Idol."

Katrina Darrell, the contestant known as "Bikini Girl" who clashed with new fourth judge Kara DioGuardi, wrote: "They don't need a 4th judge, especially an insecure know it all kara. Keep Paula add bikini girl as 4th judge if they need."

Abdul took to her Twitter page to thank fans for standing by her.

She wrote: "I"m actually moved 2 tears upon reading the enormous amount of tweets showing me your kindness, love & undying support. God bless all you! If it weren't for you, this specific time and situation would feel a lot worse! xoP

Abdul's manager told the Los Angeles Times that the judge has yet to be offered a new contract for the upcoming ninth season. The announcement came as Idolhost Ryan Seacrest inked a $45 million, three-year contract.

  1. I love Paula. I love her postive influence and her gentleness. Simon needs Paula. They have great chemistry and always make me laugh. I most likely would not watch show if Paula does not return.

  2. NO PAULA NO SHOW! NO AMERICAN IDOL! IF THE JUDGES ARE REPLACED, NO ONE WILL WATCH. THEY ARE AN INTEGRAL, IF NOT, THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE SHOW; THE REASON WHY WE WATCH! EACH JUDGE COMPLEMENTS THE OTHER AND PAULA IS AN IMPORTANT PIECE OF THE PIE! SO NO PAULA, NO SHOW! SO GIVE HER WHAT SHE DESERVES; A GOOD CONTRACT FOR GOODNESS SAKE! EVERYONE ELSE HAS ENORMOUS SALARIES; SO SHOULD SHE BECAUSE SHE DOUBLES AS CHOREOGRAPHER; SHE IS NOT JUST ANOTHER PRETTY FACE! SHE WORKS HARD FOR THE MONEY!

  3. no paula no watching show. The show is void and a has been without the dynamic of what we are used to that made it the product it is.. If you screw with the recipe and try to break what is not broken you are taking an idiotic risk and I will not support the product without paula.

  4. The show needs Paula. The contestants are awesome to be able to get up in front of thousands of people and perform with little experience. Yes, they need to hear what Simon has to say because he is trying to help them, but it can be very cruel sounding at times. Paula is and always has been the one to encourage the contestants. Even if they perform poorly, she finds something positive to say to them. Nobody else can do her job. If it's not broken, don't fix it. You've already tried a fix by bringing Kara onboard. That was a disaster. Let well enough alone.

  5. There will be no American Idol Without Paula. What are they thinking? Expect the viewer ratings to drop big time!!!

  6. Idol won't be the same without Paula. The 3 basics are: Randy, Paula, and Simon. If you must get rid of a judge for whatever reason, make it Kara. Paula, Randy, and Simon are the 'heart' of American Idol. If it's the money, you should give her a raise. If Ryan and Simon got one, Randy and Paula need one, too. What's fair is fair!

  7. Someone needs a REALITY CHECK if they think the show ratings would NOT suffer without Paula. She is the HEART of the panel, the class act !! She cares about each contestant and follows them till they are eliminated , and then sends them off with thoughts of success in their futures. She is a breath of fresh air. If she is eliminated from the panel I would have serious second thoughts about even watching the show. I do not want to put money in the pockets of those who are gaining income from the show at the loss of someone so vital to its success. Hang in there Paula... if they can you , there is something much better in the Horizon waiting for you. Sometimes CHANGE is a good thing. But know that you are loved and respected as a celebrity, as well as a genuinely good human being. If you are ever in Magnolia, Tx we would be HONORED to have you as our guest. ( I know... long shot ... but just so you know it !!! That's enough for me ! )

  8. Paula Abdul has been the life of that show. It the antics of her and Simon that get most fans excited about the show. Ryan Seacrest with all due respect is working his deals. I am not hating on that, but I feel the judges should get their due also. I thought Kara was an alright judge , but I was just anxiously wating for Paula and Simons remarks because they are always right on. If they keep Kara and not Paula a lot of people aren't going to be happy at all. Yes, she is unpredictable , but that's what we L-O-V-E about her. Keep your head up Paula and don't worry cause everything will work out in the end.

  9. Are you kidding me? Have the Idol producers completly lost it? Idol would be a snooze fest without Abdul!! Her co-workers are getting their salaries tripled. Why can't she asked for a pay raise too? Clear case of discrimination and maybe some sexist and ageist stuff going on as well. The judges all do the same job so their paycheck should be also equal. As a female, I'm sick and tired of seeing men getting paid more than women who are doing the same job just because they are women! Enough!! I'm done with Idol if they don't bring back Paula.

  10. to the producers of "american idol"-you are making a huge mistake! this show did not become the "cult" it is on the shoulders of randy jackson or simon cowell. if you dump her, i will boycott idol when it returns to the air. in fact, if you are an idol fan......let's do this-if they insist on not bringing paula back-WE WILL BOYCOTT!!!!!!
get your head in the game, guys. do what is right.

  11. WOW, her manager is awesome at working the press and getting people all fired up. Hopefully she gets a lot of dough for this publicity stunt. Even if you dont like her, her co worker is making 45 mil! She should be making more too. You just know that the powers that be are making a fortune off of her!
