Precious Tops NAACP Image Awards
Precious dominated the nominations for the 41st NAACP Image Awards, with eight nods.
The movie, which stars up-and-coming actress Gabourey Sidibe as an overweight teen twice impregnated by her father and Mo'Nique as her abusive mother, earned accolades for its acting, directing and writing. Sidibe was nominated for best actress, while Mo'Nique earned a nod for her supporting role.
Also earning nominations: and Paula Patton for supporting actresses and Lenny Kravitz for supporting actor. Lee Daniels and Geoffrey Fletcher were nominated in the director and screenplay categories, respectively.
The Image Awards also honor the best in television, music and literature. The winners will be announced during a two-hour telecast on Fox on Feb. 26.
